Sud Champagne, reinventing know-how

The example of Petit Bateau

Petit Bateau, synonymous with quality and French know-how, was founded in Troyes in 1893.

In 2021, the company invested in a digital textile printer. It has become the first brand in France to use digital printing on 100% knitwear.

This innovation is part of the “Production on Demand” project, which aims to transform the Troyes site into a regional platform for production on demand, a showcase for Textile 4.0 in France.

In 2022, a new automatic cutting machine will complete the system. Real benefits have been measured thanks to this new technique: re-internalisation in France of material production, acceleration of on-demand production, reduction of the environmental footprint and skills upgrading for around fifty employees.

This new production process is a fine example of reinventing know-how and investing in the industry of the future!

Since 2019, Petit Bateau has been offering its production site to all brands looking for an industrial partner for the development and manufacture of their collection, a turnkey service covering the entire value chain.

Today, a team is entirely dedicated to this white label entity, with support from A to Z: design office, choice of materials and production in our workshops: knitting, dyeing, screen printing, embroidery, digital printing, cutting and tailoring.
