After acquiring Royal Vélo France, UK-based Zyrofisher chooses Troyes as the site for its European hub
The takeover of RVF in 2018 by the UK’s Zyrofisher (200 employees, €90 million sales) was the first step in the group’s pan-European expansion.
The question then arose of the organisation of logistics in Europe: where to locate the European hub to distribute all the group’s brands throughout the European Union? The risk was that the Saint-Thibault site would have to close, as the warehouse of less than 2,000 m² with 38 employees was no longer sufficient to support this growth.
The Business Sud Champagne economic development agency therefore approached the English and French managers to consider a local solution. They were offered a 5,000 sq. metre solution, which could be extended to 7,500 sq. metres, in a warehouse belonging to the Aube Departmental Council in the Torvilliers business park.
Thanks to this opportunity, Zyrofisher has decided to locate its European hub in Troyes. This choice confirms the region’s strategic logistical position, as demonstrated by companies such as Lacoste, Petit Bateau and Le Coq Sportif, which ship their products all over the world from Troyes.
The project will create 21 jobs between now and 2023, and will require an investment of €800,000. An application for assistance will be submitted to the Grand Est Region.
As Christophe Albarran, Managing Director of Royal Vélo France, points out, this is a fine example of the concerted efforts being made with the Grand Est Region, Troyes Champagne Métropole and the Aube County Council to ensure the success of this project in Troyes:
Christophe Albarran, Managing Director of Royal Vélo France, commented: “We found really efficient teams on site to help us make the right decisions. Business Sud Champagne offered us the right property solution in close collaboration with the Aube departmental council, and will continue to support us in terms of public grants, recruitment, training, finding a tenant for the building we are leaving at Saint-Thibault, etc.”
