BSC and the Grand Est Region commit to an active approach to secure purchasing
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the vulnerability of our supply policies: longer lead times, higher costs and delivery disruptions have led to the disruption of national production and weakened whole sectors of our industry. That’s why the Grand Est Region, supported by Business Sud Champagne, is working alongside manufacturers to help them secure their purchases and ultimately relocate orders or production of strategic components close to home.
As part of its Relocation Pact, the Grand Est Region has called on PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PWC) to help companies by confidentially analysing all their suppliers in order to assess financial, health, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and market risks. These various analyses then enable them to propose alternative solutions or a short- and medium-term action plan to secure their supply chains.
The Grand Est Region covers between 50% and 80% of PriceWaterHouseCoopers’ services. Business Sud Champagne’s mission is to promote this scheme to companies in the region and to respond to all their requests on this subject.
In Sud Champagne, GILLET GROUP, based in Nogent in the Haute-Marne region, has already benefited from this support. It was a rewarding experience, as Claire Chretienot, the company’s Logistics and Purchasing Manager, explains:
“PWC’s work was very important for us, as we want to favour France over Asian countries for our sourcing. Right from the start of the assignment, PWC carried out a huge amount of work analysing our strengths and weaknesses, as well as our purchasing procedures and budgets. The firm gave us advice on the supply chain and on the risks and problems we might encounter when working with certain countries. They provided real technical, administrative and commercial support, and advised us without choosing for us. Thanks to the work we did with them, we were able to achieve our objective by targeting strategic products or those supplied by a single supplier. Thanks to this action, we now have alternatives in France for 4 purchasing families, with 3 or 5 alternative suppliers in each of these families. I particularly appreciated PriceWaterHouseCoopers’ support and their good humour during the various meetings. The most important thing to remember is that PriceWaterhouseCoopers helped us to achieve the expected result for this action, with French solutions”.
