Choose low-carbon energy: a performance advantage for your company

Thanks to its geographical location, its landscapes of plains and valleys, its agricultural strength and the Seine and its tributaries, the Sud Champagne region has many renewable energy production centres: wind power, photovoltaics, methanisation, nuclear power… And tomorrow… a hydrogen station!

96% of the region’s needs are covered by green energy.

Business Sud Champagne can help you find the energy solution best suited to your project.

What Sud Champagne has to offer

Make your supplies more reliable

Make your supplies more reliable

A variety of production sources

More than 600 wind turbines (medium and high-powered) in operation in the Aube and Haute-Marne départements, generating 1,370 MW, with another 300 in the pipeline (training in wind energy professions with GRETA).

3 solar farms in Romilly/Seine (10), Lassicourt (10) and Chaumont (52) with a total capacity of 32 GWh/year.

In Nogent/Seine, the 2 reactors of the nuclear power plant (19 TWh/year) cover 40% of the electricity needs of the Grand Est region, and a project for a 2nd ERP is under study.

With 14 sites, Aube ranks first in France for methanisation by injection. Haute-Marne covers 14% of gas consumption thanks to local biomethane production.

Green gas: 30 biomethane sites and more than 20 future projects. Nearly 800 km of GRTgaz pipelines throughout France.

Unprecedented opportunities

At Chaumont/Semoutiers (52), the ECOSUN business park features an original concept combining a business park and photovoltaic solar power generation: a group of buildings to be developed with 19,600 m2 of photovoltaic cover.

At Brienne le Château (10 – near the Lassicourt solar farm), the airfield area is accessible to exceptional convoys, making it ideal for wind energy projects such as blade storage and recycling.

Land available at very competitive prices.

Major projects in the region

Against the backdrop of the energy crisis, the Nogent/Seine power station is currently being considered for a new nuclear reactor.

The future of hydrogen: study underway into the European H2 network H2Med, with its French section HYFEN, which will pass through Haute-Marne

Near Chaumont, a future multi-energy production zone is being planned: 170 ha of photovoltaic panels, six wind turbines and a methane plant.

50,000 m² of photovoltaic panels will be dedicated to the production of 5 MW, including 1 MW to power Orange’s strategic satellite telecommunications site in Aube in 2025,

Drive on biofuels

Fill up with biogas now!

On the A26 motorway, exit 32 at Thennelières, light vehicles and lorries can fill up with biogas 24/7.

Drive on 100% renewable biodiesel that emits 80% less CO2 than conventional diesel. Saipol, a subsidiary of the Avril Group, produces 1.5 million tonnes of biodiesel every year from locally-grown rapeseed.

Collective intelligence and pooling resources

  • Biogaz Valley®: The only cluster of its kind in France dedicated to methanisation, Biogaz Vallée federates, leads and supports the industrial and scientific methanisation sector.

  • Aube Industrial Ecology Club: This association raises awareness and brings together local economic players to meet the challenges of more sustainable development. Industrialists exchange ideas, work in synergy using collaborative tools, and share their experiences through workshops, company visits, events, etc.

  • Magma Energy: A start-up from Technopole de l’Aube lowers biogas production costs. The first central purchasing office for methane producers. An opportunity for project developers and Biogas Valley.

  • Biogas and Methanisation Business Convention : Since 2012, Biogaz Vallée® has been organising the key annual event for the biogas industry in France, with a key ambition: to speed up the process of bringing together operators and project developers – whether agricultural, industrial or local – and suppliers of solutions applied to methanisation and gas mobility.

  • The Energy Meetings: Business Sud Champagne has organised this event in November 2022 to bring together manufacturers to discuss the key themes of decarbonisation and to exchange ideas on concrete examples of applications: energy efficiency in buildings, processes and mobility. With the participation of Solar Impulse and The Shift Project.
